IRVING, Texas — The Irving Police Department is searching for possible victims of a former resident who is accused of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Averil Cardwell, 69, was arrested in August 2022 for continuous sexual abuse of a young child after a 21-year-old woman said he abused her when she was between the ages of three and eight. While police investigated the initial outcry, a second victim came forward, leading police to believe there were several victims. Since the initial outcry, there have been four victims identified, dating back to 1986.
